In Implementing this policy the Air Materiel Comnand has been designated\nA the Air Force agency to collect, collate, evaluate and distribute to interested\n1\"vernment agencies and contractors all information concerning sightings and pheno­\nmena in the atmosphere vhich can be construed to be of concern to the national security\n3. Observation by Mr. Les Buchner, Bakersfield, California,\nof t~o objects falling to earth from unknown source on 5 March 1948\nbetween 1610 and 1655 hours. Description of objects simihr to falling\naircraft with smoke and debris trailing. Observation made at Bakersfield\nwith objects sighted southwest toward Buena Vista Lake, California.\n. '\nb. Observation by Mr. Denio, employee of the Pacific General\nElectric Company, Bakersfield, California, of two objects which fell to\nearth from unknown source north of Bakersfield, California, 8 March 1948.\nOne object seemed to be on fire with red and black smoke trailing behind.\n2. Informant Larsen stated that searching parties, aircraft and\nrescue units have made numerous attempts to locate these reported objects\nwithout success.\n3.
