Methodology & Provenance

The rule

Nothing is invented. Every title and description is verbatim from the video's own embedded metadata or its official DVIDS page. Where documents are cited, it's only because the source explicitly names them.

Where the metadata comes from

Release 01 videos carry a full embedded XMP metadata packet — title, date, agency, the complete AARO description, and the linked mission report — read directly from the files.

Releases 02 & 03 were re-encoded and stripped of embedded metadata, so each record's title and verbatim description were recovered from its official DVIDS page.

Get the data / build your own library

The full metadata set is available as a free, open-source pack of 93 NFO sidecars plus the tooling that built them, so you can build this same rich library in Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, or Kodi. Download the public-domain videos from DVIDS, drop the sidecars next to them, and turn on NFO reading — full step-by-step guide in the repo.
