Privacy & Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 27, 2026

This policy explains what information wearenotalone.space ("we", "us") collects, the cookies and tracking technologies we use, the legal basis for processing, and your rights under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the ePrivacy Directive.

Who we are

We Are Not Alone is a non-commercial public archive of U.S. Government public-domain UAP records. For the purposes of the GDPR, the operator of this site is the data controller. You can reach us about privacy at privacy@wearenotalone.space.

What we collect

We do not require accounts and do not ask for personal information. We do not collect names, addresses, or payment data. The only data we process is aggregate usage analytics: pages viewed, approximate region (derived from IP, which is not stored by us), device/browser type, referring source, and on-page interactions (clicks, scrolls, session replays for usability). Before you opt in this runs in a privacy-safe, cookieless mode (Google/Microsoft Consent Mode — no cookies and no identifiers are stored); accepting enables full, cookie-based measurement.

Cookies & tracking technologies

Cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels) are only set for non-essential analytics if you click "Accept" in our cookie banner. Until then, analytics run in a consent-denied mode and no analytics cookies are stored. Strictly-necessary technologies required to serve the site may always operate.

Legal basis

We rely on your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) for all analytics and similar technologies. Strictly-necessary processing needed to deliver the site rests on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating a secure, functional website. We use Google Consent Mode v2: analytics and advertising storage default to denied until you opt in. Embedded videos from DVIDS are likewise not loaded until you accept cookies or explicitly click to load an individual video (a “two-click” approach), so no third-party video player is contacted and no embed cookies are set without your action.

Managing & withdrawing consent

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using (also in the footer), or by clearing this site's cookies/local storage in your browser. Withdrawing consent stops further analytics collection. You may also install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.

Data recipients & international transfers

Analytics data is processed by Google, Microsoft, and Cloudflare as our processors, and may be transferred to and processed in the United States. These providers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers. See their policies: Google, Microsoft, Cloudflare.

Data retention

We retain aggregate analytics for no longer than necessary — Google Analytics event data up to 14 months, and Microsoft Clarity data for roughly one year — after which it is deleted or anonymized by the provider. We do not build individual profiles.

Your rights

Subject to the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority. To exercise any right, contact privacy@wearenotalone.space.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our tools or legal obligations change. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
